The Justice Department reported on Wednesday, May 27 that "chatter" has confirmed terrorists will attempt an attack in the United States within the next three or four months.

Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Meuller spoke to the American people on Wednesday, May 27 and announced that credible intelligence from reliable sources has confirmed the "chatter" that Echelon has been picking up over the last few months—al Qaeda is planning a major new attack in the United States within the next few months.

Ashcroft noted that following the March 11 bombings in Madrid, an al Qaeda spokesman reportedly said that plans for another attack on America were about 90% complete. Ashcroft noted that statement, together with a steady stream of intelligence before and after the Madrid bombings suggest another attack on the United States is imminent.

Because the intelligence contains nothing specific, such as the target, the date or the type of attack that will be launched, several Democrats have already launched verbal attacks at the Bush Administration, arguing that the Ashcroft and Mueller are trying to frighten people to increase Bush's popularity.

In the press conference, Ashcroft noted that recent intelligence indicates that the al Qaeda operatives may be traveling with their families (or people posing as their families) to attract less attention to themselves. Further, the Justice Department believes the group is actively recruiting ideologically-aligned Islamic recruits who look European. One of the terrorists—an American convert to Islam—within the group of seven being sought by the FBI generally poses as, and may actually be, a Jew named Adam Pearlman. The group may also be attempting to recruit far right or far left radicals who are disillusioned with the American government.

Here are the Group of Seven currently being sought by the FBI for questioning. If you see any of these people, contact your local police or sheriff's department, your State Police or your local FBI office. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCOST ANY OF THESE INDIVIDUALS. Most of them are reported to be ARMED and DANGEROUS. There are rewards of up to $55 million offered for information leading to the arrests and convictions of three of these people.

AMER EL-MAATI

ALIASES: Amro Badr Eldin Abou El-Maati • Amro Badr Abouelmaati

El-Maati was born in Kuwait. He is 41 years of age. 6'0" tall, approximately 200 lbs. He prefers a full beard and mustache, but very likely will be clean shaven. He needs corrective lenses and may be wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses. He is being sought for making terrorist threats. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS.

El Maati, who lived in Canada for some time, is a pilot who has links to al Qaeda. Acquainances interviewed by law enforcement have indicated that El-Maati has discussed hijacking an aircraft and crashing it into a target in the United States. If another suicide bombing attempt is made in the United States, El-Maati will be a likely player.

AAFIA SIDDIQUI

Aafia Siddiqui was born in Pakistan. Although they are not sure, the FBI believes Siddiqui may still be in Pakistan, and although they have no direct evidence that she is involved in planning terrorist acts, information they possess suggest she is linked to those who are planning such acts. She is, therefore, a "person of interest" that they very much want to speak with.

Siddiqui studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology [MIT]. Her husband, Amjad Mohammed Khan is also wanted for questioning by the FBI. Siddiqui is known in terrorist circles as a "fixer." She is the person who "gets things done." She has an extremely good knowledge of the United States and how things are done here. When terrorists need to move around undetected, they reportedly call the "fixer" who tells them how to do it.

FAZUL ABDULLAH MOHAMMED

ALIASES: Abdullah Fazul, Abdulla Dazul, Abdallah Mohammed Fazul, Fazul Abduilahi Mohammed, Fazul Adballah, Dazul Abdalla, Dazul Mohammed, Haroon, Harun, Haroon Fazul, Harun Fazul, Fadil Abdallah Muhamad, Fadhil Haroun, Abu Saif Al Sudani, Abu Alsha, Abu Luqman, Fadel Abdallah Mohammed Ali, Fouad Mohammed.

Mohammed was born in Moroni, Comoros Islands. He is between 5'3" and 5'5" tall. He is 30 years of age. It is estimated that he weighs between 120 to 140 pounds. This is a very dangerous person. He is wanted for the murder of United States nationals outside the United States, and conspiracy to murder U.S. nationals outside the United States. He is wanted for committing terrorist acts on US buildings that resulted in the deaths of American citizens. Fazul Abdullah Mohammed was indicted on September 17, 1998 in the Southern District of New York for his alleged involvement in the bombings of the US Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya on August 7, 1997. The United States government has offered a reward of up to $25 million for the arrest and conviction.

Mohammed is believed to be hiding in Kenya or Somolia since his photograph has been plastered all over those countries since he was identified as one of the killers responsible for the deaths of 231 people in the U.S. Embassy bombings. However, since there are no photos of Mohammed wearing a beard and mustache or with long hair, he could be anywhere in the world—even living down the street from your home.

ADNAN G. El SHUKRIJUMAH

ALIASES: Adnan G. El Shukri Jumah, Abu Arif, Ja'far Al-Tayar, Jaffar Al-Tayyar, Jafar Tayar, Jaafar Al-Tayyar

El Shukrijumah was born in Saudi Arabia. He is between 5'3" and 5'6" tall. He weighs about 132 lbs and is 29 years of age. He occasionally wears a beard. He has a very pronounced nose and is asthmatic. He is fluent in English and carries a Guyanese passport but may attempt to enter the country with a Saudi, Canadian or Trinidadian passport. He is wanted in connection with threats against the United States. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. The US government is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of El Shukrjumah.

El Shukrijumah is of particular interest to the FBI because of his knowledge of the United States, the fact that he speaks English fluently—and because of his talent in forging identification cards. If he is in the United States, it is likely that El Shukrijumah is hiding in areas heavily populated either with Hispanics or with Indian or Pakistanis. His family has told authorities that El Shukrijumah lived in Miami until May, 2001 when he left the United States for Morocco. Since much of the September 11 planning was done in Madrid, it is possible that El Shukrijumah was involved in providing some forms of counterfeit IDs to the hijackers that would have gotten them through security in European air terminals. In addition, El Shukrijumah was selected by Khalid Shaikh Mohammed to work with Jose Padilla to blow up 20 apartment buildings simultaneously in New York City. The plan was apparenlty scaled down to a one man operation because Padilla couldn't stand El Shukrijumah and refused to work with him. Shurkrijumah vanished. Padilla was arrested by FBI agents when his international flight from Pakistan landed at O'Hare International in Chicago.

AHMED KHALFAN GHAILANI

ALIASES: Ahmad Khalafan Ghilani, Ahmed Khalfan Ahmed, Abubakar K. Ahmed, Abubakary K. Ahmed, Abu Bakr Admad, A. Ahmed, Ahmed Khalfan, Ahmed Khalfan Ali, Abubakar Khalfan Ahmed, Ahmed Ghailani, Ahmad Al Tanzani, Abu Khabar, Abu Bakr, Abubakary Khallan Ahmed Ghailani, Mahafudh Abubakar Ahmed Abdallah Hussein, Shariff Omar Mohammed and nicknames: "Foopie," "Fupi" and "Ahmed the Tanzanian."

Ghailani was born in Zanzibar, Tanzania. He is 5'3" to 5'4" tall and weighs 150 pounds. He speaks Swahili. Ghailani was indicted in the Southern District of New York on December 16, 1998 for his involvement in the August 7, 1998 bombing of the US Embassies in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. The US government is offering a reward of up to $25 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Ghailani.

Ghailani is one of the most dangerous of the Group of Seven only because very little is known about him. FBI agents know very little about his personal habits. He is a ideologically-driven mass killer who will not hesitate to kill again.

ABDERRAOUF JDEY

ALIASES: Abu Al-Rauf Bin Al-Habib Bin Yousef Al-Jiddi, Abderraoul Dey, A. Raouf Jdey, Abdal Ra'Of Bin Muhhammed Bin Yousef Al-Jadi, Farouq Al-Tunisi, Abderraouf Ben Habib Jeday

Ghailani was born in Tunisia. He is 6'0" tall and weighs 209 pounds. He is being sought for terrorist threats against the United States. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. Not much else is known of him.

Jdey intended to be a martyr in Afghanistan. He was one of five men who left suciide messages on videotapes that were recovered in the home of Mohammed Atef, one of Osama bin Laden's top lieutenants, and the military chieftan of al Qaeda. Also found by American authorities was a martyr's suicide letter written by Jdey in 1999. He is a man who is determined to be a martyr for Allah. Jdey is a naturalized Canadian citizen. His last known address was Montreal. Under a pre-Patriot Act agreement with the Canadian government, Canadian citizens do not need to show passports when entering or leaving the the United States. After 9-11 the Bush Administration has forced the issue of requiring all Canadians to present a visa verifying their identies have been checked by the Canadian government and that they have no ties to terrorist organizations or those organizations known to support front groups that support global terrorist organizations.

ADAM YAHIYE GADAHN

ALIASES: Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki, Abu Suhayb, Tihya Majadin Adams, Adam Pearlman, Yayah

Gadahn was born in Southern California in the United States. He is 25 years of age. He is 5'11" and weighs 190 pounds. He is wanted in connection with possible threats against the United States. Although the FBI has no direct information indicating this person is connected with any specific terrorist activity, the FBI wants to locate and question him. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS.

Gadahn converted to Islam as a teenager, but was banned from the Mosque in which he worshipped due to his extreme radical views. Gadahn traveled to Afghanistan in 1998 where it is believed he served as a translator and "demographic and/or geographic" instructor in Osama bin Laden's terrorist training camp. Gadahn's name began popping up in interrogations of detainees at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib. Gadahn was believed to have served as a translator for Abu Zubaydah, another bin Laden lieutenants who was captured in Pakistan in 2002.

In the event the FBI adds new names and faces to this list, this website will update that information as it becomes available.

Because of the success that al Qaeda had in affecting the Spanish national election, it is a save bet that sometime between the dedication of the World War II Memorial (in which all living former presidents except Ronald Reagan will be present) and the Democratic and Republican conventions, al Qaeda will attempt a major event within the United States.
