In 1958 John Birch Society founder Robert Welch made some
uncanningly accurate predictions during a speech made at the
JBS founding meeting about the long-range plans of the com-
munists within our government (now called social progressives,
or my favorite term, "watermelons,"
[green on the outside, commie
red on the inside.
]) You need to pull out whatever liberal news-
paper hits your doorstep each morning or evening, and compare
today's headlines with this half century-old speech.

When I was a student in one of our fine, liberal institutions of higher "learning," my economics instructor launched an anti-John Birch Society tirade, denouncing JBS founder Robert Welch as an extremist who was singlehandedly destroying the fabric of freedom in America. Being a completely apoliticial creature at the time, I wondered why it was that I had never heard of this evil man before his name was dredged up in a classroom rant. Within a day or two, I completely forgot his name. But when I began to listen to his views in the mid-1970s, I quickly remembered Welch's name and the instructor who introduced me to him. Welch's name has been etched in my memory for years now. But, for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the socialist instructor who maligned Welch that day. He didn't impress me as an instructor, nor as a human being. Listen to this video and you will understand why my liberal instructor feared him. Welch's hand has reached from the grave to slap silly an apathetic nation which has, for too long, ignored the surreptitious destruction of their liberty because it was someone else's job to safeguard those rights for them.
